I've been a fan of Bob Mayer's nonfiction books for several years, in particular his "Green Beret's Survival Guide" and his "Sh*t Doesn't Just Happen" series. The topics aren't comfortable--how to avoid and survive disasters--but his tips are so doable and practical, you quickly get past the discomfort.This new book is another easy read, quick to get through, very interesting all the way. I particularly enjoyed his wife Deb's forward about how procrastinators like her think about the need for preparation ("You mean I can't assume I'll be lucky?"). She's right that although a lot of us might aspire to be more like her husband, we're probably more like her.Highly recommend this book. Not just buying it, not just reading it, but also actually doing the steps Bob Mayer recommends. We all enjoy our comfort zones. Inertia is a powerful force. This book is a good way to break free of that and actually do a few things in advance to take care of yourself and your loved ones.
Absolutely loved the way Mayer has crafted this book, so that people even as inept as I, at things having to do with surviving the catastrophes that could come your way, could survive and thrive, after most any event. The book is written in a step by step format that makes it easy to be prepared!! I highly recommend this book to all who live in area, prone to natural disasters of any type. Thank you!
All of Bob Mayer’s novels are excellent reads, but his Procrastinator’s survival guide is one of the greatest non-fiction books I’ve ever laid my eyes on. It is very practical but most of all it’s helpful. It something that everyday folks can use. You don’t need a decade in the Special Forces. Mr. Mayer always delivers whether it’s non fiction or fiction. I highly recommend this book to everyone!!!
