Great guidebook to the Grand Circle! Last year I had borrowed the prior Kindle edition as a Prime member and loved it. I recently purchased this fresh edition of the printed book to take on our trip that this guidebook helped inspire us to do. We won't be RVing and so skipped over that chapter -- but the balance of the book has great, well-written info. This new edition has more detail about the parks, particularly with regard to hiking options. Love the entertaining, sometimes moving and often self-deprecating vignettes that accompany each chapter (e.g., Love you Dad....Can I have the iPad?). Kudos and thanks to Mr. Henze and family!

I should not have purchased this family guide. It is mostly an account of one family's trip and does not give me the info I need.

I very light fun read. I find a lot of these books can be tedious and can make my eyes bleed, but this is not only very informative but it is written in a fun, easy to read format.

I found this book to be much less useful than I hope as a travel guide to these parks. Instead it was a travel story of one family's visit to these parks. If you like reading a story, perhaps this book is OK. If you are looking for a uesful travel guide to help you plan a trip, there are much better chioces than this book.

Just what i needed for the loop trip.

Very interesting perspective! Educational as well as captivating

Has a nice breakdown of camping, lodging, food, and many reviews of hiking trails rated by difficulty and time.

Let Your Life Speak: Listening for the Voice of Vocation, by Parker J. Palmer

Amazon.com Review

The old Quaker adage, "Let your life speak," spoke to author Parker J. Palmer when he was in his early 30s. It summoned him to a higher purpose, so he decided that henceforth he would live a nobler life. "I lined up the most elevated ideals I could find and set out to achieve them," he writes. "The results were rarely admirable, often laughable, and sometimes grotesque.... I had simply found a 'noble' way of living a life that was not my own, a life spent imitating heroes instead of listening to my heart." Thirty years later, Palmer now understands that learning to let his life speak means "living the life that wants to live in me." It involves creating the kind of quiet, trusting conditions that allow a soul to speak its truth. It also means tuning out the noisy preconceived ideas about what a vocation should and shouldn't be so that we can better hear the call of our wild souls. There are no how-to formulas in this extremely unpretentious and well-written book, just fireside wisdom from an elder who is willing to share his mistakes and stories as he learned to live a life worth speaking about. --Gail Hudson

From Publishers Weekly

A gifted academic who formerly combined a college teaching career with community organizing, Palmer took a year's sabbatical to live at the "intentional" Quaker community of Pendle Hill in Pennsylvania. Instead of leaving at year's end, he became the community's dean of studies and remained there for 10 years. Palmer (The Courage to Teach) shares the lessons of his vocational and spiritual journey, discussing his own burnout and intense depression with exceptional candor and clarity. In essays that previously appeared in spiritual or educational journals and have been reworked to fit into this slim volume, he suggests that individuals are most authentic when they follow their natural talents and limitations, as his own story demonstrates. Since hearing one's "calling" requires introspection and self-knowledge (as suggested by the eponymous Quaker expression), Palmer encourages inner work such as journal-writing, meditation and prayer. Recognizing that his philosophy is at odds with popular, essentially American attitudes about self-actualization and following one's dreams, Palmer calls vocation "a gift, not a goal." He deftly illustrates his point with examples from the lives of people he admires, such as Rosa Parks, Annie Dillard and Vaclav Havel. A quiet but memorable addition to the inspirational field, this book has the quality of a finely worked homily. The writing displays a gentle wisdom and economy of style that leaves the reader curious for more insight into the author's Quaker philosophy. (Oct.) Copyright 1999 Reed Business Information, Inc.

Parker Palmer’s graceful little book LET YOUR LIFE SPEAK is the best work I’ve ever read on discernment and vocation. In six chapters and just under 120 elegantly written pages, Palmer presses home the point that vocation emerges from within us and that we must listen carefully to our own lives if we are to discover it. Taking on someone else’s concept of calling or subjecting ourselves to an external and alien set of values and objectives will do violence to ourselves and to our usefulness—Palmer would probably avoid the word—to our community and our world. Throughout, the author’s rooting in Quaker patterns and rhythms is evident, but this book is anything but sectarian and will be welcomed—indeed, has been welcomed, for it was published in the year 2000—by readers of many faiths and perhaps of none.Chapter I, ‘Listening to Life’, argues that one’s life is worthy of study and profoundly worth listening to. ‘The soul is like a wild animal—tough, resilient, savvy, self-sufficient, and yet exceedingly shy. If we want to see a wild animal, the last thing we should do is go crashing through the woods, shouting for the creature to come out. But if we are willing to walk quietly into the woods and sit silently for an hour or two at the base of a tree, the creature we are waiting for may well emerge, and out of the corner of an eye we will catch a glimpse of the precious wildness we seek.’In his second chapter (‘Now I Become Myself’), Palmer initiates in earnest the autobiographical transparency that he will sustain through the book, lending to his lines an authenticity that is arguably their most compelling feature. After having tried and failed over several episodes to forge a sense of vocational and personal identity, Parker writes that ‘(t)today I understand vocation quite differently—not as a goal to be achieved but as a gift to be received. Discovering vocation does not mean scrambling toward some prize just beyond my reach but accepting the treasure of true self I already possess. Vocation does not come from a voice “out there” calling me to become something I am not. It comes from a voice “in here” calling me to be the person I was born to be, to fulfill the original selfhood given me at birth by God.’The author urge us not to ‘wear other people’s faces’ and to realize that ‘(t)he deepest vocational question is not “What ought I to do with my life?” It is the more elemental and demanding “Who am I? What is my nature?”.’Yet Palmer does not imagine that this discovery of one’s true self occurs often without pain. ‘Most of us’, he avers, ‘arrive at a sense of self and vocation only after a long journey through alien lands … before we come to that center, full of light, we must travel in the dark. Darkness is not the whole of the story—every pilgrimage has passages of loveliness and joy—but it is the part of the story most often left untold.’ This ultimate qualifier is another item that, to this reader’s ears, lends the ring of truth to Palmer’s adventure. I say this because my own journeying after true vocation has, like Palmer’s, led me through both sunlight and darkness, yet I cannot say that any of the miles traveled has been entirely dark, entirely bleak, and certainly not entirely regrettable. Unlike many more mechanical treatments of the topic, Palmer’s notion of vocational discovery leads him to value the path rather than merely the destination. One finds, in this second and longest of Palmer’s chapters, refreshingly important roles to be played by fear, failure, and ordinariness. In my view, this makes LET YOUR LIFE SPEAK accessible to those of us who resonate with Palmer’s journey but could never write so elegantly of our own.Chapter III is titled ‘When Way Closes’. The missing article is not a typo, but rather a nod to the Quaker sense of ‘Way’. In the discourse of the Friends, we learn, ‘way opens’ and ‘way closes’. Palmer traces a givenness to vocation, a created anchoring in our persons that does not make all things possible. Instead, the way each of us is both opens doors and closes doors. Sometimes the closing brings embarrassment and shame.‘It would be nice if our limits did not reveal themselves in such embarrassing ways as getting fired from a job. But if you are like me and don’t readily admit your limits, embarrassment may be the only way to get your attention. I go on full alert only when I am blocked or get derailed or flat-out fail. Then, finally, I may be forced to face my nature and find out whether I can make something of both my gifts and my limitations.’Palmer develops the role played by our limitations by counterposing the ‘oughts’ that we often heed in our vocational adventure to the ‘ecology of life’ in which we find a proper place to stand and to be. In this third chapter, this Christian reader finds the theological undergirding to Palmer’s prose that the author often touches upon only lightly. It is, for Palmer, the ‘God of reality’ who ‘dwells quietly in the root system of the very nature of things’. He speaks easily of ‘one’s created nature’. When one finally comes to rest within this ecology burnout is not the inevitable outcome of passionate labor. Rather, ‘(w)hen the gift I give to the other is integral to my own nature, when it comes from a place of organic reality within me, it will renew itself—and me—even as I give it away.’‘All the Way Down’ (Chapter IV) suggests that an excruciating read lies just ahead and the title does not deceive, for in this fourth chapter Palmer sketches out for us his two debilitating experiences of depression. Neither reducing nor simplifying the causes of depression—in fact he calls the thing a ‘mystery’—Palmer managed in his own suffering to find his way to viewing depression as his friend. It took him all the way down to where it was safe to stand. Following upon his previous description of ‘the God of reality’, Parker borrows Tillich’s description of God as the ground of being: ’I had always imagined God to be in the same general direction was everything else I valued: up … I had to be forced underground before I could understand that the way to God is not up but down.’Thankfully, Palmer does not write prescriptively about the ways (plural) into depression nor the ways (again, note the plural) out. His own recovery remains something of a mystery, captured in the magnificent poem with which he graces the conclusion of Chapter IV. Yet for him, his submission to the vocational ‘oughts’ by which he permitted himself for years to be hounded prepared the way down in the darkness. There he found not only God, but himself as well.Chapter V (‘Leading from Within’) now turns outward to the damage and the health that a leader can bring to the wider community and, indeed, to the world. We project both shadows and light onto the world. ‘A good leader is intensely aware of the interplay of inner shadow and light, lest the act of leadership do more harm than good.’In this chapter, any hint that vocation is essentially a narcissistic pursuit evaporates. For Palmer, vocation begins within but eventually projects itself onto one’s world. He writes insightfully of the ways leaders fashion a community from misguided starting points and, happily, also via the freedom that comes from authentic vocation. Let me single out at some length a few of Parker’s words on fear as motivator:‘As one who is no stranger to fear, I have had to read those words with care so as not to twist them into a discouraging counsel of perfection. “Be not afraid” does not mean we cannot have fear. Everyone has fear, and people who embrace the call to leadership often find fear abounding. Instead, the words say we do not need to be the fear we have. We do not have to lead from a place of fear, thereby engendering a world in which fear is multiplied. We have places of fear inside of us, but we have other places as well—places with names like trust and hope and faith. We can choose to lead from one of those places, to stand on ground that is not riddled with the fault lines of fear, to move toward others from a place of promise instead of anxiety. As we stand in one of those places, fear may remain close at hand and our spirits may still tremble. But now we stand on ground that will support us, ground from which we may lead others towards a more trustworthy, more hopeful, more faithful way of being in the world.’This reviewer—like Palmer, no stranger to fear—thrills to such a sound and realistic assessment of the kind of ‘fearlessness’ that embraces reality and yet dares to lead, unparalyzed. In his concluding chapter (VI, ‘There is a Season’), Palmer departs from his now familiar approach to speak of how ‘the quest for selfhood and vocation’ follow the recurring patterns and rhythms of the four seasons. This chapter alone would justify keeping Let Your Life Speak within arm’s reach, to be read and re-read at the calendar’s and the seasons’ turnings. One can hardly read Palmer’s exceedingly transparent work on vocation and then write for others about it without a bit of transparency of his own. After twelve years of leadership in a relatively prominent position—at least for the proportions of this review’s little world—I recently hit the wall at the end of a particularly grueling vocational mile. This is not without its emotional violence, its sense of failure and disillusionment, its return to the root considerations of vocational identity, and its forceful requirement to look again and to look within for wisdom about next steps. For me, each page of Palmer’s LET YOUR LIFE SPEAK brought both balm and direction. Many brought exhilaration as well.I offer this review in hopes that Palmer will be a bit more widely read for those, like me, who find a wise mentor the doctor’s very order.

Where do you start with this book? It was one of the most fantastic reads for me. I picked this book up thinking I was going to have some guidance about what I’m supposed to be “doing” in my life. Instead, I got an awakening about exploring the beauties of life within myself and the world around me and beyond. This book touched my soul and opened my thought process up in ways I didn’t realize existed. This book is so profound that you won’t know what I’m talking about until you read it yourself. And it was so beautifully written. It’s a mere 109 pages but I found myself rereading much of it to really grasp and love the concepts.Though this book is Christian based, it’s very universal in its language and idea so anyone from any faith can pick this up and be blown away.

I had never before come across this author, but got the book when another writer quoted from it. I found it helpful, easy to read, and it had some seminal things to say about letting go of the external pressures to be and do things a certain way. Allowing oneself to be what we were born to be, irrespective of where we stand in the pecking order was very refreshing. The "you can be anything you want to be" message has limitations since there is only just so much room for prize-winning anythings, and a depressed economy makes getting to the top even more difficult, so a sense of failure is the inevitable outcome if that is the way we want to live our lives. Being exactly who you are and getting in touch with yourself at this deepest level leaves you with a certain amount of relief when he assures us that fulfilling our lives by allowing ourselves to be who we actually are leads to the greater sense of satisfaction and fulfilment. If I have any criticism of this book it would be that it was a little too self-absorbed, but then, I have to admit that he used his own experiences to help us with ours, and it was skilfully done. The religious references were restrained, so anyone of any faith or of no faith could relate to what he is trying to say. Bottom line - Parker J Palmer deserves his status as one of the better writers of this genre. I am not sorry I got this book.

This book contains some great advice ... even wisdom ... but I felt the author's writing style was a tad foggy.I teach a class on how to create your life's timeline. Some people call the timeline the DASH. The dash on your grave marker between your birth and death date. I recommend to my students to include the good, bad and ugly on the timeline to help your family and friends not only learn about you but also learn some valued life lessons. To emphasize the importance of including mistakes on your timeline, I plan to reference the author's statement: “Many young people today journey in the dark, as the young always have, and we elders do them a disservice when we withhold the shadowy parts of our lives. When I was young, there were very few elders willing to talk about the darkness; most of them pretended that success was all they had ever known. As the darkness began to descend on me in my early twenties, I thought I had developed a unique and terminal case of failure. I did not realize that I had merely embarked on a journey toward joining the human race.”

This is a fantastic book that helped me to make some important decisions regarding the direction of my career when I was at a crossroads in my life. The premise upon which this book is basically based on the old adage, "To Thy Own Self Be True," but this book goes very much beyond this - it actually unpacks this adage and applies it concretely to one's career choices and other things. It also seems to hold up a mirror to the things that we tell ourselves that prevent us from leading a more vocationally liberated life. Truly, I have been a world-weary reader of inspirational books, but this is one new read that I absolutely loved! Thank you Parker Palmer for writing this illuminating book!

I bought this for my neighbor. We both feed and enjoy watching birds in our yards. I've had "bird books" which have taught me a lot through the years. My neighbor is more of a novice and would often call me and try to describe a bird she'd seen, for me to tell her what it was. She LOVES this book. She happily told me all about the junco she had seen, and relayed when they arrive and how long they remain in our area. The color plates and easy system to find a bird based on color and size make this a perfect beginners bird book.

We love this book!! Ever since moving to an area with more nature, we've been so intrigued by all of the species of birds we see at our feeders. Thanks to this book, we've easily identified over ten different species (both sexes too), in the couple weeks of having this book. The book is a handy size that easily fits in yours hands and is great to have lying around near the window for easy reference. The book is organized by the color of the birds so when you see one you can usually identify it right away. The book also goes into small detail about the birds' habits and native areas. I highly recommend checking out this book if you're looking for your first basic bird reference book.

Happier than expected with this book.I bought this book for a small child but really it would be great for anyone who is wanting to learn more about birds. I like that the birds are grouped by color in this book. It makes it much easier to find a particular bird. The pictures are nice as well.

This is my favorite bird guide for common backyard birds. Very easy to use with just enough information on the species. The guide is used by looking up the main colors of the bird you see, then you flip through that section looking at the clear photos until you spot the one you are looking for. The benefit of this style is that the same species of birds may appear in more than one location in the book according to their seasonal coloring ( winter color vs spring/ summer color). Perfect for those of us who don't always know!I tracked this book down to replace my original when it got water damage. It was worth the hunt as newer books don't feel as used friendly to me!

This book fits in a purse and does not take a lot of space. This is important because you can take it with you and if you see a bird you like, you just have to whip this out and bam! Name the bird and find out facts about it, like how to attract it and stuff. My 3 yr. old twins are into birds and so I got into birds too, we have been identifying birds left and right. They know I get the information from the book and now whenever we go outside we take our little book with us. Mind you, we live in NYC! But we have seen: America Robins, Indigo Bunting, Purple Finch, European Starling...etc. among other birds like ducks and pigeons. It's so nice to identify these birds. We love it.

On a whim I installed a bird feeder and within minutes of filling it with food the birds arrived. It was great, it was wonderful, but I quickly realized that I couldn't identify half of the birds that came to visit!I rushed out and bought a few bird identification books, and the Stokes Beginner's Guide to Birds has become my favorite. It is my favorite because:1. The photos are crisp and clear, and the colors are amazingly vibrant.2. The photos of the birds are large, probably taking up 2/3 of each page.3. Because the photos are so large there is not a lot of room for text, but the text that is there is direct and to the point. For each bird there is information on 5 topics: Identification, Voice, Habitat, Nesting, and Attracting. Because of the limited page space, only a few sentences (2-3) are used to explain each topic. This book is a great guide for beginners. It is short, sweet and to the point. But possibly a little too short? Shortness would be my only criticism of this book. Not enough species are listed. There are a few birds that visit my feeder that couldn't be identify using this book alone. So this is a great book for the beginner or casual backyard birdwatcher, but you will need something more comprehensive if you want to identify every bird that lands in your backyard.

I bought this guide as my 2yr old is obsessive with bird species! This has not only been great for her to memorize even more birds, but has actually been really useful when trying to identify birds coming to our new feeders. Having it organized by color was genius! This is by far the best bird species book we have in terms of being a practical look up to identify species. The only negative is that the map doesn't seem accurate, or perhaps is just outdated? We definitely have both house and purple finches at our house and at my mother's house and the map does not show them being in Minnesota! Every other guide I look up shows them being very common here.

Is a good starter book. It uses an easy to identify color coding system to identify the birds; the book groups birds by their colors. It is easy to see which 'brown' bird you are looking at and then you can compare to the other similar 'brown' birds for a more exact identification. This is the book in a nutshell.Good pictures, well organized and a great way to start seeing the differences between similar birds. It is not all inclusive of all possible birds in the area, but hits the most likely to see and is a great place to start bird watching.

The cat in question is a brilliantly opinionated, unnamed stray kitten that lands in the household of a distracted schoolteacher and his young family. The cat's master is undoubtably Soseki himself, whom Cat describes as a selfish, dispeptic, mustachioed dimwit who doesn't know his own children's ages. (The fact that Soseki was writing and publishing as many as four books a year while suffering from serious stomach ailments that would kill him only twelve years later are beyond the cat's comprehension.) The rest of the household doesn't fare much better in his feline opinion: the schoolteacher's wife is hilariously abstracted; the maid is grotesquely incompetent, and the children, including a tyrannical toddler, are beyond control. Things improve for the cat when the master publishes a short story about him--as Soseki himself did--that gives the animal a measure of fame. Secure in his adoptive household, the lordly cat sits in on his master's philosophizing with his friends, his nonchalant marital banter, and a nasty feud with a rich neighbor. His adventures and hilarious overheard dialogue fill three novels--470 pages in all--covering subjects as varied as baseball, Greek philosophy, literature (not only Japanese but English and Chinese), changing social mores, marriage and suicide. While it's hard to convey the wit of Soseki's prose, it retains a freshness 113 years after publication, something that can't be said for his contemporaries' writing, no matter the language. More startling still is the fact that Soseki the author comes up in one of the master's conversations with his friends--and not flatteringly. The writer-as-character device was hailed as post-modern when Martin Amis tried it in the 1990's, so it's fair to call it post-modern here. "I Am a Cat" is a masterpiece of universal appeal with no equivalent. It deserves to be more widely known.

Although the original Japanese of this book was written over a century ago, I think anyone who has lived in Japan and/or who loves cats would enjoy it. For many years, there was no full English version, and even when one came out and I bought it, I lent it to cheer up an English-speaking lady who was unhappily married to a Japanese man (sorry if that's TMI), and then she went back to her own country or something--anyway, I never saw the book again and couldn't find another one in a store. It was way before the Internet. So now I am very, very happy to have it in English once again.Japanese novels of around Soseki's period, while interesting, tend to be of a rather gloomy cast, but this one is humorous. The author is very famous and this story, which doesn't have much of a plot line, originally appeared serially in the Asahi Shimbun newspaper.

First some technical stuff: I read "I Am a Cat" on the kindle which allowed me to forget it's over 600 pages. The kindle always weighs the same and you can make the text big. I found there were a lot of typos in the beginning. Sometimes I would want to look up the definition of a word but since it was misspelled I was unable to just click on it. Eventually I got so swept up in the book that I stopped noticing."I Am a Cat" is not a plot-driven page turner. But if you enjoy sinking your teeth into each sentence and lingering, then this book is for you. There are so many wonderfully crafted, witty and wise sentences in here, I mean, pretty much the entire thing. This is a rich book.Told from the perspective of a cat who acts as voyeur and anthropologist, "I Am a Cat" follows the cat's master, a school teacher named Mr. Sneaze, and his pretentious, academic visitors in Meiji Era Japan. I had no previous interest in Japanese literature, I just picked this book up out of the blue but I enjoyed learning about the specific social norms and prejudices of Japan in this time period which the book pokes fun at with much wit.The device of the cat telling the story makes for some good jokes and philosophizing about animals' place in human society but a lot of the book is really not about the cat at all. We follow Mr. Sneaze through his mundane daily routines and his interactions with his friends. The dialog is wonderful, with one or two poet characters bursting into Haiku now and then. It made me think a little of Seinfeld in that the characters never learn a lesson- they just keep bantering and getting into their inevitable little mishaps.By the end of the book, not a lot has happened but I had become very attached to the characters and "listening" to them talk. As I read the final two pages of the book I was bawling. I'm not sure if this was because those passages were so, so beautiful, and a different vibe from the rest of the book, or because I didn't want it to end. Probably a bit of both.

Terrific hornbook source of information to accompany the casebook for the class. This cleared up some finer points on the law, and is worth the cost for every law student to purchase aside from the copy that will exist in the library.

If you really want to understand real estate transactions and have a solid contact, this book should be very helpful to you.

Great book at giving a thorough explanation of property law. I'm keeping this book even though the class is over.

This book is for someone ready to “do the work.”The questions range from predictable (“What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?”) to the unexpected, but often even the questions I expected had extra coaching and facets brought into play. For example, “List the five accomplishments that fill you with the most pride. Keep in mind that sometimes the most fulfilling things bring little recognition and yield no monetary results. So be honest— you’re not in a job interview; you’re on a quest to discover purpose.”I appreciate the direction present to consider what we’d cut as much as what we desire and pursue. I feel that all are important to narrowing (and understanding) our focus.Sometimes prompts could mean different things for different readers. For example, “What experiences today made you most-relate to the statement, ‘Well, that went well.’? Reflect on what led to that result and that feeling.”This is frequently a sarcastic comment in our household, so the heading -Small Victories- was necessary to determine the intended focus on the question.Of course none of these variants is insurmountable, or even that distracting; these are just examples of things that made me pause and go, Hmmm. One of the surprise questions that made me pause came under the heading, “What’s tugging at you?”:“A restless heart and mind may be trying to send a message. If you’re having a difficult time falling asleep, what is keeping you up?”I liked the times the “after [filling out this journal] life” was hinted at. In the values section, for example, there was room made to tie action steps to specific values.I wanted to hold this review back to four stars, because however much quality we find in the questions, the goal of a work like this is (ultimately) application, and this journal ends with mere hints about how to close that circle, namely seeking for overlap or themes in the answers a reader recorded. At the same time, it’s true there’s no magic bullet, and giving the reader a clear picture of the bullseye is beyond the scope of this book— not part of its purpose. Its purpose, which I believe it fulfills admirably, is to launch the engaged reader/participant toward their next path of growth.(Thanks to the publisher and Net Galley for the digital review copy)

***THIS BOOK WAS RECEIVED FROM A GOODREADS GIVEAWAY***A few years ago, I had heard a little snippet about Ikigai and thought it was a great way to focus a person's life. Essentially, Ikigai is the Japanese concept that combines four qualities of a person's passion and concentrates them into a productive and meaningful life. The four tenets of Ikigai are the things a person loves, the talents where the person excels, the individual's worldview, and a recognition of where the person can make a difference in the world. At the center of all four of these ideas is the concept of Ikigai. This book is a handy journal that provides some exercises for the reader to help them consider these aspects of their life and how they can find their Ikigai. Each page either has an encouraging quote that ties to one of the four Ikigai pillars or a question for the reader to fill in an answer that will help them understand their Ikigai a little better. The style and aesthetic of this book is relatively chic, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. While this journal is likely meant to be used on a daily basis, a dedicated reader can probably fill it out in a couple of hours. My one qualm with this journal is that it didn't guide the reader toward their Ikigai. I already had a bit of a sense of what my Ikigai was, but since the four parts are a little disjointed, it would be hard to pick it out if you didn't already know it. I think it would have helped to have a summary after each section to then pick the strongest element of a person's life that meets the definition of one of the four pillars of Ikigai, so that way the reader could reach the end of the journal and have a reasonably certain understanding of their Ikigai. An aesthetically chic journal to help the reader find their purpose in life, I give My Little Ikigai Journal 4.0 stars out of 5.

I can't even begin to tell you how much I love My Little Ikigai Journal. Everything in this very short book has help create a better structure for not only me but children. The questions you can answer with as much depth as you want. I enjoy all the creative ways for finding "reason for being."Its a perfect journal to buy for those who are struggling life with changes that bring them away from the reason for being. This is an inspired Journal that everyone should own and work on during their daily joys and struggles.Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Castle Point Books for the advance copy of My Little Ikigai Journal

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway. For some reason there was a problem (which has never happened before, by the way) and it took quite awhile to reach me...I was sitting on the edge of my seat the whole time, I was so excited to get this book! It is FANTASTIC. First off the size of the book is PERFECT to stick in your purse or a coat pocket to take with you anywhere....which is what I suggest you do. To get the most out of this charming and profound little journal grab whatever moments you have to jot down the answers to these simple questions that will lead you towards a clearer understanding of your path. You dont even have to write down everything, the questions presented will make you THINK about yourself and what makes you....you. And that in itself is the process and the progress. (There is ample room to provide detailed written answers if that is more your style.) This would make a perfect gift for people of all ages just make sure you grab a copy for yourself.
