I couldn't decide whether to give this two or three stars, and I chose three because I didn't completely dislike it. It was okay.First starting the book, the writing style wasn't as advanced as I was used to, but towards the middle of the novel I either got used to that style or the writing itself improved, and I think it was a little bit of both. The dialogue at some points also felt a bit forced, but not to the extent that I felt like I had to put the book down. It's definitely not the worse thing I've ever read, and there weren't any sloppy editing or grammar mistakes, so I got through the book without the quality of the writing being a super distracting issue.The pacing of the novel was mostly decent, but there were a few points when there are big time jumps and what happens between scenes is just vaguely summarized, which is okay sometimes but other times important things were happening in the novel and I would have rather been shown them instead of told them. However, by the end of the book, I did really feel like I'd gotten to see a lot of Kaity's life. She's a completely different person by the end of the novel than she was at the start and that progress and character development is impressive. I did really like the characters. I sympathized with them, and I was rooting for them, and there was no one that I really disliked.The ending was a bit disappointing. I won't spoil too much, but things seem to be going great, then take a horrible turn out of nowhere and the badness that ensues is glazed over and summarized. I thought the actions that occurred and the plot of the novel itself was very believable, but for things to twist at the end so suddenly like that felt like a cop out. Though, Spoiler Alert, I am glad it did have a somewhat happy ending.All in all, I liked reading this book, and the fact that I got so invested in it really says a lot.
This book was great. The main character humor was a plus. The ending was unexpected, I had to read it several time to confirm what I read. Hope the author does a sequel.
This book held my interest. Follow Katlyn in her journey to find herself. This is good read for those who find themselves in similar circumstance.
This is one of the best books I've read all year - heartfelt, gut-wrenching, believable.
I would not say this book is bad or good . I guess it's just ok . I had a hard time staying with it till the end . I found the main character to be spine less and extremely whiney . Maybe it's a better story for high school kids . I found it to be mostly boring and pointless.
It's hard to believe this is the author's debut. She's talented. She does a good job developing the characters as well as the plot. It was an interesting read and I hope there will be a sequel; I really enjoyed Kaity.
A very good read with an important and interesting subject matter no matter your age group. Well written. Can't wait for the next book!!!
A fantastic read for everyone. This is a story we can all relate too, we've all been in Sam's shoes. A young teen forced to make decisions adults struggle with day in and day out. Find out how she copes with the stress.
